Simon Lewson is an Ottawa- and Toronto-based magazine writer and a course instructor at the University of Toronto. He contributes regularly to The Local, Maclean's, Report on Business, Toronto Life, and The Walrus, and has also written for US magazines such as The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, and MIT Technology Review in areas such as true crime, politics, higher education, neuroscience, public health, and the culture wars. He has appeared on major radio shows and podcasts including Front Burner, Crime Story, Ontario Today, The Big Story, and NPR's Think.

He has won the Canadian Association of Journalists' Hugo Rodriguez Award for Community News (2024), the Mindset Award for Workplace Mental Health Reporting (2023), and the Digital Publishing Award for Best Feature (2022). He’s been nominated for eight National Magazine Awards, and won two, both of them in B2B categories.
