Dominik Parisien

Dominik Parisien is a writer, editor, and poet. His nonfiction has appeared in Maisonneuve, The Fiddlehead, PRISM International, Quill & Quire, and The Humber Literary Review, among others.

Dominik Parisien is a writer, editor, and poet. His nonfiction has appeared in Maisonneuve, The Fiddlehead, PRISM International, Quill & Quire, and The Humber Literary Review, among others. Side Effects May Include Strangers, his debut poetry collection, was published in fall 2020 and his poetry has appeared in literary journals across Canada. Dominik co-edited several anthologies, most recently The Mythic Dream with Navah Wolfe and Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction with Elsa Sjunneson, and his anthologies have won the Hugo, Shirley Jackson, British Fantasy, and Aurora Awards. He is also an Associate Prose Editor at Plenitude Magazine and an instructor with InkWell Workshops. He is a disabled, bisexual French Canadian. He grew up in Eastern Ontario and currently lives in Hamilton.

Dominik’s in-progress nonfiction manuscript, Dis/embodied, is a disability journey through major institutions that shape our perception of disability and engagement with it. The book is both personal and far-reaching, bringing together complex experiences, such as his exorcism as a teenager, with systemic issues.
