CMD WELCOMES CHRISTINE LAI
Christine is a writer and ex-academic. Her short stories and essays have appeared in The Puritan, Joyland, PRISM International, and Cosmonauts Avenue. She holds a PhD in English Literature from University College London.
Christine’s debut novel, Landscapes, was shortlisted for the inaugural Novel Prize, managed by New Directions Publishing, Fitzcarraldo Editions, and Giramondo. In a dilapidated country estate in England, in a near future that is fraught with environmental collapse and geopolitical upheaval, an art historian pores over the material remains of the past as she recounts an act of violence that took place over two decades ago. Landscapes explores memory, loss, and the capacity of art as an instrument for recollection and renewal.
Christine is represented by Stephanie Sinclair.
