Mahak Jain

Her short fiction has appeared in magazines across the US and Canada and has been longlisted for the Journey Prize. Her debut picture book, MAYA (illust. by Elly Mackay), was a Kirkus Best Book of the Year and winner of the 2017 South Asia Book Award.

Mahak Jain (www.mahakjain.com) writes for young people and adults. Her short fiction has appeared in magazines across the US and Canada and has been longlisted for the Journey Prize. Her debut picture book, MAYA (illust. by Elly Mackay), was a Kirkus Best Book of the Year and winner of the 2017 South Asia Book Award, and a second picture book, BHARATANATYAM IN BALLET SHOES (illust. by Anu Chouhan), is forthcoming in spring 2022. Her debut story collection, A SECURE FORM OF LIVING, is about the urgency and difficulty of living in states of in-betweenness and insecurity in the context of immigration and displacement.
