Dr. Philip Jessop is a professor and Canada Research Chair of Green Chemistry at Queen’s University, where he studies green science and practices the development and selection of greener alternatives. Previously, he was a professor at the University of California-Davis.

He is the chair of the editorial board for the science journal Green Chemistry, has authored 197 scientific papers, been an inventor on 23 patent applications, chaired three major international conferences, and given 290 lectures to conferences, businesses, governments, and the public around the world. His awards include the Canadian Green Chemistry & Engineering Award (2012), NSERC Brockhouse Prize (2019), and Fellowships in the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK).

Philip is working on a book that will help readers make greener choices by weighing the environmental impacts of different options in almost every category, from food (butter vs. margarine) to home (dishwasher vs. hand-washing) to lifestyle (paper books vs. e-books . . . duh duh duh). His conclusions are surprising and fascinating, breaking down inaccessible science for the average person to show that a green lifestyle is not necessarily more expensive or less convenient.

Philip is represented by Paige Sisley.
