CMD Welcomes Zak Jones

Zak Jones

Zak Jones is a writer, teacher, labour organizer, and United States Army veteran. His work has appeared in Vallum Magazine, PRISM international, and The Ex-Puritan.

We are thrilled to welcome Zak Jones to CookeMcDermid.

Zak Jones is a writer, teacher, labour organizer, and United States Army veteran. His work has appeared in Vallum Magazine, PRISM international, and The Ex-Puritan.

Zak’s writing has made the shortlist for the Thomas Morton Memorial Prize and was twice shortlisted for the Jeff Sharlet Memorial Award. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Toronto, where he worked under the mentorship of Pasha Malla.

Currently, Zak is a SSHRC-funded PhD candidate studying veteran narratives at the University of Toronto. His short story, SO MUCH MORE TO SAY, is a finalist for the 2023 Bronwen Wallace Writers Award. Jones' debut novel, FANCY GAP, is in the works and nearing completion. He lives in Toronto.
