We are so excited to welcome Mikaela Lucido to CMD!

Mikaela Lucido was born in Manila, Philippines. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing & Publishing from Sheridan College. Her work has been featured in Savant-Garde Literary Magazine, Gothic Tales of Haunted Futures, Augur Magazine, Living Hyphen, and Ricepaper Magazine. Lucido was the 2021 recipient of the Ampersand Award. In Fall 2021, she was a mentee in Annick Press’ “Supporting Writers Who Have Been Historically Excluded from Children’s Publishing” mentorship program. Currently, she is an in-house storyteller for Cambio Collection, poetry editor for Savant-Garde Literary Magazine, and a freelance writer. Lucido resides in Mississauga.

On the topic of her inspiration, Mikaela says: “[s]ometimes all we want is an escape. On better days, we might yearn for some kind of magic: an unexpected adventure, a cozy fragment of childhood, or just a really good friend. My work explores where we’ve been and who we’ve been. Informed by the Internet, pop culture, and the whimsy of children’s literature, I write to provide solace for girls like me.”

Mikaela is represented by Rachel Letofsky.
