jaye simpson

jaye is an Oji-Cree Saulteaux Indigiqueer from the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation and the author of the poetry collection it was never going to be okay (Harbour Publishing) – which was short-listed for the Writer’s Trust Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBTQ2S+ Emerging Writers (2021), and winner of the Indigenous Voices Award: Published Poetry in English (2021).

Their work has been performed at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word has been featured in Poetry Is Dead, This Magazine, PRISM international, SAD Mag, GUTS Magazine, and Room. jaye was also named the Vancouver Champion for the Women of the World Poetry Slam in 2018.
